OpenRouter, the AI model routing platform founded in 2023, has closed a $113 million Series B led by CapitalG, Alphabet's independent growth fund. The round values the company at approximately $1.3 billion post-money — more than double its estimated $547 million valuation from just one year ago. Strategic participants include NVentures, ServiceNow Ventures, MongoDB Ventures, Snowflake Ventures, and Databricks Ventures, with existing backers Andreessen Horowitz and Menlo Ventures also returning.
The funding reflects staggering growth in AI inference demand. OpenRouter now processes 100 trillion tokens per month across its 400-model catalog — a 5× increase from 5 trillion tokens per week just six months ago, putting the platform at a 1.5 quadrillion token annual run rate. The platform serves 8 million users and supports models from Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, xAI, and DeepSeek through a single unified API. Revenue has doubled since the round quietly closed in February.
CEO Alex Atallah frames the opportunity plainly: the single-model era is over. A 2026 Deloitte study backs him up — 67% of enterprises already consume over one billion tokens per month. OpenRouter plans to deploy capital toward smarter routing, enterprise security, and governance tooling, positioning itself as the infrastructure layer for a multi-model AI world.
