OpenAI Replaces CRO Amid Executive Departures
OpenAI replaced its Chief Revenue Officer Denise Dresser after nine months, appointing Dali Rajic.
"OpenAI's executive merry-go-round continues. They're clearly chasing those revenue goals, but can a new CRO fix everything?"
OpenAI has replaced its Chief Revenue Officer (CRO) Denise Dresser with Dali Rajic. Dresser, who joined OpenAI in December, is departing after nine months. Rajic, previously president and chief operating officer at Wiz, will take on the top sales role. This change follows other executive departures, including COO Brad Lightcap and the company’s No. 2 executive, CEO of AGI deployment Fidji Simo.
OpenAI co-founder and president Greg Brockman announced Rajic’s arrival. Brockman stated that Dresser led the revenue organization through a formative period. He added that Rajic will focus on repeatable execution as the company builds out its system to make AI broadly useful. OpenAI reports over one billion weekly active users and two million businesses using its products.
Despite growth, executives have indicated that the company has not met all its revenue goals. OpenAI has confidentially filed with the SEC for a potential IPO, though the timing is unclear. The company recently purchased $7 billion worth of shares from employees, which may suggest a delay in a public offering. CEO Sam Altman has emphasized focusing on enterprise deployment and reducing distracting technology projects.
This executive change signals OpenAI's intensified focus on revenue generation and enterprise deployment, potentially impacting how businesses access and integrate their AI solutions. The shift suggests a drive towards more measurable business impact and could influence future product development and partnership strategies.
