Meta's new AI agent, Muse, has shown strong early adoption, outperforming ChatGPT's initial mobile launch in the U.S. and Canada. According to estimates from Apptopia, Muse recorded 1.8 million downloads in its first 12 days on iOS in these regions, compared to ChatGPT's 1.3 million during a similar period. Overall, Muse achieved 2.8 million total installs globally within its first 12 days across both Apple's App Store and Google Play.
Muse also demonstrated higher daily active users than ChatGPT at comparable stages. In the U.S. mobile app market, Muse registered 642,000 daily active users, surpassing ChatGPT's 231,000. Even when narrowing the comparison to iOS users only, Muse maintained a lead with 359,000 daily active users. The app has also risen to the No. 1 position on the U.S. App Store, moving up from its initial No. 2 spot.
This strong performance suggests Muse could become a significant product for Meta, potentially benefiting from cross-promotion strategies similar to Instagram's Threads. Over 95% of Muse users are also Facebook users, and 63% are Instagram users, indicating potential for integration and growth within Meta's ecosystem, including WhatsApp.
