Meta's Muse AI Agent Expands to iPad, One Month After Mobile Debut

Meta's AI agent, Muse, has launched on the iPad, following its mobile debut just one month prior. This rapid expansion highlights Meta's focus on AI, with Muse hitting the iPad significantly faster than Instagram's 15-year timeline for a dedicated iPad app. The app, which launched on iOS and Android on September 8, has accumulated over 6.6 million installs, according to Sensor Tower estimates. The Verge notes that Muse spent several weeks as the top free app in Apple's App Store.
Muse allows users to connect accounts for email, meetings, and bills, and to complete tasks such as booking reservations, ordering groceries, setting goals, and making purchases. The iPad release includes new "connectors" for small businesses like Asana, Canva, Dropbox, Figma, QuickBooks, GitHub, Klaviyo, and Zoom, as well as Meta ad accounts. Notion and Granola were also added. Recent retail partners include Best Buy, Gap, Sephora, Walmart, and Wayfair, enabling the agent to shop and complete transactions on these sites.
Meta is addressing potential issues where websites might block AI agents by working with industry partners on an open standard. This standard would allow personal AI agents to identify themselves to businesses, helping to differentiate legitimate agents from bots. This initiative aims to streamline the interaction between AI agents and online services, ensuring smoother task completion for users.
This rapid rollout signifies Meta's aggressive push into the AI agent market, offering businesses new avenues for customer interaction and task automation. The integration with various business and retail partners could streamline operations and enhance user engagement for companies leveraging these platforms.
