IBM and OpenAI launched an enterprise AI partnership, integrating GPT-5.6 to bolster AI adoption.
"IBM and OpenAI just teamed up for enterprise AI. Get ready for more AI in your business, backed by serious consulting power. This is big."
IBM and OpenAI have announced a partnership focused on bringing OpenAI's models and tools to enterprise customers. This collaboration aims to deepen AI integration within businesses, with IBM planning to train and certify tens of thousands of consultants on OpenAI's technologies. The deal includes the integration of OpenAI's GPT-5.6, Codex, and ChatGPT Work into IBM Consulting Advantage, IBM's AI platform for consultants.
As part of the agreement, IBM will establish a dedicated OpenAI practice within IBM Consulting. The training for consultants will focus on OpenAI's Codex, API, cybersecurity, and consultative solution credentials. IBM will also create a group of specialized "Forward Deployed Experts" trained through OpenAI's Partner Network. The partnership will see IBM and OpenAI jointly market AI offerings and develop industry-specific solutions for sectors such as financial services, government, telecommunications, and retail.
This partnership expands OpenAI's strategy to grow its enterprise business through collaborations with consulting firms and technology partners. For IBM, the agreement broadens its range of frontier AI partnerships, supporting its model-agnostic strategy that combines its own AI models with third-party offerings. This move comes as IBM seeks to accelerate growth in its AI business.
This partnership signifies a major push to integrate advanced AI models like GPT-5.6 into core enterprise operations. Businesses can expect more tailored AI solutions and increased access to expert consulting for secure AI deployment, potentially accelerating digital transformation and efficiency across various sectors.
