Apple Settles Siri AI Claims for $250 Million
Apple is paying $250 million to settle claims regarding its AI-upgraded Siri.
"Apple's paying up for Siri's AI promises. If you bought a new iPhone, get your cut. Don't promise what you can't deliver, Apple!"
iPhone owners in the US can now submit claims in Apple’s $250 million settlement concerning its Siri AI capabilities. The settlement addresses claims that Apple failed to deliver an AI-upgraded Siri as expected. Eligible iPhone owners who purchased an iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, or any iPhone 16 model between June 10th, 2024, and March 29th, 2025, can file a claim.
Claimants have until December 21st, 2026, to submit their information on the settlement’s website. Payouts are estimated at $25 per eligible device, with a potential increase to $95 depending on the number of claims filed. The lawsuit alleged that Apple created an expectation for new AI features to launch with the iPhone 16, which instead launched with a more limited set of capabilities.
The rollout of the AI-upgraded Siri was delayed and reportedly arrived with iOS 27. Apple has denied any wrongdoing in the matter. This settlement allows eligible consumers to receive compensation for the perceived discrepancy between expected and delivered Siri AI functionalities.
This settlement highlights the importance of managing consumer expectations regarding product features, especially in rapidly evolving tech sectors like AI. Businesses must ensure marketing aligns with product capabilities to avoid potential legal and reputational repercussions.
