Anthropic has entered into a $45 billion deal to rent AI compute from Nscale, a UK start-up. This agreement is the latest in Anthropic's efforts to expand its compute capacity. Nscale, founded in 2024, will supply Anthropic with compute using Nvidia’s Vera Rubin chips, with capacity expected to power services in late 2027. The deal reportedly spans six years, with computing power originating from Nscale’s data center in West Virginia.
This deal follows Anthropic's recent compute partnerships, including a $10 billion deal with AI cloud startup Volta and a $5 billion compute-related deal with AMD. In May, Anthropic also secured a large computing deal with SpaceX, providing $1.25 billion worth of capacity monthly. Additionally, Anthropic expanded its partnerships with Amazon, Google, and Broadcom in April, gaining access to significant compute power.
