SambaNova Raises $1 Billion, Valued at $11 Billion
AI chip maker SambaNova raised $1 billion at an $11 billion valuation.
"SambaNova just bagged a billion, hitting an $11B valuation! They're challenging the big players and landing major clients like JPMorgan. Watch out, AI chip world!"
AI chip maker SambaNova has raised $1 billion in funding, reaching an $11 billion valuation. This Series F funding round comes five months after its previous mega round. The company was previously rumored to be an acquisition target for Intel at approximately $1.6 billion.
SambaNova's new valuation highlights investor interest in challengers to Nvidia in the AI chip market. The funding round was led by General Atlantic, with Intel, T. Rowe Price Associates, Capital Group, and Seligman Ventures also participating. SambaNova has also been selected by JPMorganChase as an "inference-infrastructure partner."
This capital infusion will be used to scale the business and secure its supply chain to meet demand. The company's SN40L and SN50 systems are set to power secure, on-premises AI inference for JPMorganChase, signaling a move by banks to build private, secure infrastructure for sensitive AI models.
This significant funding round for SambaNova indicates strong market confidence in specialized AI hardware beyond established players. For businesses, this suggests increasing options for powerful, on-premise AI infrastructure, potentially reducing reliance on cloud services for sensitive data.
