Rabbit Launches OS3 AI Agent, No R1 Hardware Required

Rabbit, the company known for its R1 device, has launched a new standalone AI agent called OS3. This "agentic operating system" operates in the cloud and functions locally across Windows, Mac, and Linux devices. This development means users do not need Rabbit's hardware to utilize the AI agent, a detail reported by Wired.
OS3 allows users to link up to five devices to a single account and integrate their preferred AI models. The system is designed to automatically identify the necessary devices, files, applications, and AI models to complete specific tasks. Access to OS3 is available through a dedicated desktop site, paired messaging applications like Telegram or iMessage, and also on the R1 device. Rabbit founder Jesse Lyu has indicated that R1 device manufacturing has ceased, but the company is exploring new AI hardware, specifically a "cyberdeck" that will run OS3 upon its launch within "months.
Rabbit states that its OS3 system will not store, copy, use, or sell user data. However, it will retain chats and associated memories on its servers. It also notes that other AI providers integrated with OS3 will manage user data according to their own privacy policies.
This shift by Rabbit to a software-centric AI agent could broaden its user base beyond hardware owners. For businesses, this offers a new cross-platform AI tool that integrates with existing devices and AI models, potentially streamlining operations.
