OnlyFans Creators Upset Over Meta's AI Sexting Policy
OnlyFans creators criticize Meta for allowing AI to sext while restricting their accounts.
"Meta's AI can get freaky, but real creators get shut down? Make it make sense. Double standards much?"
OnlyFans creators are expressing frustration with Meta, questioning why the company permits its AI agent, Muse, to engage in explicit sexting with adult users while simultaneously restricting their social media accounts. Adult performers like Vanniall, whose Instagram account with over 100,000 followers is currently restricted, highlight the perceived double standard. They argue it's unfair for Meta to profit from a "sexually active AI agent" while limiting real adults' ability to express sensuality on its platforms.
Meta spokesperson Tracy Clayton stated that a private, one-to-one conversation between an adult and an individualized AI agent on an 18-and-over platform differs from marketing services on a social media platform. Muse, Meta's always-on AI agent, has seen rapid adoption, reaching top download charts. While Meta allows explicit text conversations with Muse for adult users, it does not generate images or videos. Other platforms like X and Bluesky permit sexually explicit content, drawing many adult performers.
Adult content creators like Jiz Lee, who runs an OnlyFans account, believe AI is being allowed to do more than humans. Lee points to FOSTA-SESTA as a factor in online censorship and questions how Muse was trained and if data providers were compensated. This situation raises concerns about equitable treatment for human creators versus AI agents on major social media platforms.
This situation highlights the complex and evolving landscape of content moderation and AI ethics for businesses. Companies must navigate user expectations, platform policies, and the potential for perceived hypocrisy when deploying AI with capabilities restricted for human users. It also underscores the ongoing debate about censorship and monetization in the adult content industry.
