Omen AI Acquires Aquatic Labs for $16 Million

Omen AI acquired Aquatic Labs for $16 million to enhance data center water monitoring.

Insta's take

"AI's thirst for water is real, and Omen AI just bought a solution. This acquisition means smarter tech for keeping data centers cool and efficient."

Omen AI has acquired competitor Aquatic Labs in a $16 million cash-and-stock deal. Both startups focus on real-time water sensors for data centers, aiming to address the significant water usage for cooling chips. Omen AI, founded in 2024, previously raised a $31 million Series A in June.

The acquisition combines Omen AI's sensors, which detect elements in water, with Aquatic Labs' technology for testing water alkalinity. This integration is expected to create a more comprehensive picture of water and fluid conditions, automating a process that was previously slow and manual. Omen AI founder Zach Laberge and Aquatic Labs CEO Allan Adams were introduced by an investor.

Allan Adams will now serve as Omen AI's chief science officer. The combined teams are working to integrate both technologies into a single sensor, with an expected market release by early next year. This aims to improve uptime for data center operators by allowing longer use of cooling fluids and minimizing cleanup costs.

Why Insta thinks this matters

This acquisition addresses the growing challenge of water consumption in data centers, a critical issue for scaling AI infrastructure. Improved real-time monitoring can lead to significant operational efficiencies and cost savings for businesses reliant on data centers. It also highlights the increasing investment in sustainable solutions within the tech industry.
