Meta and EssilorLuxottica have introduced a new line of AI-powered smart glasses, expanding their smart eyewear offerings to four products. These new "Meta Glasses" are available starting at $299, or 309 euros, making them a more affordable option compared to previous models. This launch marks a shift as the new glasses do not carry the Ray-Ban branding, a departure from the previous three years where "Meta" and "Ray-Ban" were synonymous in the smart glasses space.

The new Meta Glasses come in three different styles and seven colors. One style is a collaboration with a socialite and reality TV star. The internal specifications are reportedly the same as the recently released Ray-Ban Meta Optics Styles, with slightly longer battery life. EssilorLuxottica assisted with the design, manufacturing, and shipping of these new glasses. The decision to drop the Ray-Ban branding was primarily driven by price, aiming for a lower price point.

This move by Meta and EssilorLuxottica aims to appeal to a wider audience by offering a more accessible price point for smart glasses. The introduction of multiple styles and colors, including a collaboration with a public figure, suggests a strategy to broaden the product's appeal beyond early adopters.
