Meta Launches AI-Powered Gaming App Pocket in US
Meta's experimental AI-powered app, Pocket, for creating and sharing games is now available in the U.S.
"Meta's new Pocket app lets you 'vibe-code' games with AI. Get ready to share your interactive masterpieces, US!"
Meta has launched Pocket, its experimental AI-powered app for creating and sharing interactive games, to users across the U.S. This follows a quiet testing phase in Brazil. The app allows users to generate interactive games using AI prompts, which are then published to a scrollable feed. These interactive experiences, referred to as “gizmos” by Meta, respond to touch and phone tilt, play sound effects, and can incorporate song clips.
Pocket also enables users to utilize photos from their camera roll or access their camera within the games. The resulting games can be shared on a user's profile, where others can save, remix, or repost them. This launch is part of Meta's broader strategy to make AI-creation tools mainstream, following previous efforts like AI-generated images with Meta AI and AI videos with Vibes.
Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg has attributed the increased output of new applications to AI-enabled software development, which accelerates the testing and shipping of new ideas. Pocket joins other recent stand-alone mobile applications from Meta, including Instagram Instants, Forum, and Seller. With the launch of Pocket, Meta is discontinuing the original app acquired from Atma Sciences.
This launch signifies Meta's continued investment in AI-powered creative tools and its strategy to rapidly deploy new apps. For businesses, it highlights the growing trend of AI-driven content creation and interactive experiences, potentially influencing future marketing and engagement strategies.
