Meta Acquires AI Coding Startup Conductor
Meta has acquired AI coding startup Conductor, enhancing its position in the AI coding race.
"Meta just snagged Conductor, an AI coding startup. Big tech is racing to own coding, and Meta's making moves to stay ahead."
Meta has acquired Conductor, an AI coding startup that enables software engineers to deploy teams of agents for simultaneous work on project aspects. This acquisition was reported by multiple outlets including Axios and TechCrunch. Conductor's platform allows for multi-agent development, utilizing agents from major labs like Anthropic and OpenAI, deployable in the cloud, locally, or via phone.
Conductor, founded in 2024, launched its core product last summer. The startup's cloud service is scheduled to shut down on November 20, after which user cloud data will be deleted. Conductor's core features will continue to operate as before until early next year. Meta has not provided additional details about the acquisition.
This move positions Meta further in the competitive AI coding landscape. The company has been actively expanding its AI capabilities, having launched Muse Code, its own coding agent, in August. Meta's Muse agents recently surpassed 10 million users, and the company has made other AI-related acquisitions, including Moltbook.
This acquisition signifies Meta's continued investment in AI development, particularly in coding and multi-agent systems. It indicates a strategic focus on enhancing developer tools and potentially streamlining software engineering processes, which could impact future product development and efficiency across the tech industry.
