Manus Raises $500M After Meta Split
AI startup Manus secured over $500 million in its first funding round since splitting with Meta.
"Manus just bagged half a billion after ditching Meta. Talk about a glow-up! This AI startup is clearly on fire."
China's AI startup Manus has successfully raised over $500 million in its initial funding round following the termination of its acquisition by Meta. Boyu Capital and IDG Capital led this funding round, with existing shareholders Tencent, HSG (formerly Sequoia China), and ZhenFund also participating. This funding comes after Chinese authorities ordered the unwinding of Meta's $2 billion acquisition of Manus.
The funding round marks Manus's return to independent operations, which resumed in August after the Meta deal concluded. The company, whose parent is Butterfly Effect, plans to continue hiring both domestically and internationally. Manus did not disclose its current valuation, though it was reportedly in talks last month to raise $500 million at a $4 billion valuation.
This significant funding indicates strong investor confidence in Manus's independent future, especially after the blocked acquisition. The company's focus on AI products and agents, including its recently launched Manus 2.0 and Cue app, positions it to further develop its offerings in the AI market.
This funding demonstrates investor confidence in AI companies, particularly those based in China, even after regulatory interventions. It highlights the potential for significant capital raises in the AI sector and the strategic importance of AI talent retention.
