Hugging Face Launches Open-Source Microduck Robot for $399
Hugging Face has launched the Microduck, an open-source robot available for preorder at $399.
"Hugging Face just dropped a $399 open-source duck robot! Get ready to teach this little biped new tricks with AI. So cute, so smart."
Hugging Face is selling a new open-source robot called Microduck for $399. Clem Delangue, CEO of Hugging Face, stated that the Microduck is an “open-source robot you can teach new tricks with reinforcement learning.” The robot is available for preorder in cream, graphite, lavender, and sky blue, with shipping planned before Christmas.
The Microduck is described as a one-eyed biped, standing just under 10 inches tall. It is the second cute AI robot launched by Hugging Face's Pollen Robotics. The robot's behaviors can be trained in simulation and deployed directly on the robot, with an SDK, simulation, and full RL training stack available on GitHub.
This launch follows Hugging Face's acquisition of Pollen Robotics in April 2025. Hugging Face is known as a platform for open model weights, and this new offering continues their focus on democratizing physical AI through affordable, open-source hardware.
This launch signifies Hugging Face's expansion into affordable, open-source AI hardware, potentially broadening access to physical AI development. It offers businesses a new platform for experimenting with reinforcement learning and robotics in an open-source environment.
