Apple Watch AI Features for Conversations Enter Beta Testing
Apple Watch's new AI-powered Audio Intelligence features for conversations are now in developer beta testing.
"Your Apple Watch is about to get a whole lot smarter at remembering what people say. No more 'what did they just say?' moments. Game changer for note-takers."
Apple has begun beta testing its new AI-powered "Audio Intelligence" features for the Apple Watch. These features, including Siri Recap and Live Rewind, are available in the watchOS 27.3 developer beta, rolling out now. The technology was initially announced at the company’s Surprise and Shine hardware event in September and is designed to help users remember what was said or take notes during conversations.
Specifically, Live Rewind allows users to retrieve the last 15 seconds of spoken conversation as a text snippet by double-pressing the digital crown. Siri Recaps provide high-level summaries of conversations with bullet points identifying key information, without saving raw audio or providing word-for-word transcriptions. Other features in the Audio Intelligence suite include sound recognition for important sounds and song identification via Shazam, available on Apple Watch Series 12.
This beta rollout signifies Apple's move into integrating ambient listening AI features into its wearables. The company has implemented measures like an audible chime and visual animation when recording with Live Rewind to signal to others that audio is being captured. These features aim to offer utility in scenarios like meetings or personal training sessions, by mimicking a user's ability to jot down notes without active input.
This development indicates a significant push by Apple into AI-driven conversational tools on wearables. Businesses and professionals may find these features useful for capturing meeting details or important information on the go, potentially increasing productivity and recall. It also highlights the ongoing trend of integrating AI for practical, everyday applications.
