A recent analysis across 107 enterprises reveals a significant "agent security gap," with 54% of these organizations having already experienced a confirmed AI agent security incident or a near-miss. This issue arises as AI agents are increasingly granted real access to systems and data, while the corresponding security controls are lagging.
The research indicates that a majority of enterprises continue to allow AI agents to share credentials. Furthermore, only about one-third of these organizations provide each AI agent with its own scoped identity, suggesting a widespread lack of granular access control for these systems.
This situation highlights a critical vulnerability in enterprise security, where the deployment of AI agents with extensive system access is outpacing the implementation of robust security measures designed to contain them and prevent incidents.
